Have you met our friend,

Dr. Christopher Barsotti, MD?

Chris is special in a lot of ways, first for being one heck of a doctor, farmer and friend - and also because of his fight against Gun Violence. His voice has echoed news channels, in hospitals and in his community. He is currently practicing at Berkshire Medical Center, in Pittsfield Mass. His article “Ending Gun Violence is our Lane” won an ASHPE award. His is also the Chief Executive Director for Affirm Research.

AFFIRM is the nation's leading non-profit fully dedicated to ending the American firearm injury epidemic using the public health approach. His work is for a nonpartisan network of healthcare professionals, public health experts, and researchers who aim to prevent firearm injury through research, innovation, and evidence-based practice.

We are gun owners and non-gun owners committed to reducing the rate of firearm injuries and deaths.

In 2017, Dr. Christopher Barsotti (AFFIRM's CEO) and Dr. Megan Ranney (AFFIRM's Chief Research Officer) founded AFFIRM Research based on their shared commitment to approaching firearm injury as a public health rather than a political issue. Over the past three years, they have created a national collaborative of medical, public health, nursing, and community organizations dedicated to changing the national conversation about firearm injury.

In addition to the national work, AFFIRM has led community-driven conversations, bringing together diverse stakeholders, clinicians, and community members to reflect on the very real ripple effects of firearm injury, and to apply the evidence of prevention in ways that resonate with those who at risk.

His work overcomes partisan divides, engages trusted messengers, and creates actionable plans to reduce the incidence and effects of firearm injury on rural and urban communities, alike.

Another true great partner in EM.
